Post COVID Honeymoon Guide —Travel in 2020 & Beyond!

Let’s be honest. One of the best parts about getting married is the no-hold-barred holiday you can look to forward to post the big day! Most couples splurge on this vacation, and it offers some much-needed R&R after all the wedding stress. But 2020, like with most other things, has also put a damper here!

With travel restrictions and fears of the virus, heading out of the country for your honeymoon is not a feasible option anymore. Even within India, varying quarantine rules and travel norms have made the general movement restricted.

But fret not, for every couple deserves to have a memorable honeymoon, and we’re here to help you plan yours.

#1. Keep calm. Your honeymoon will happen.

The most important thing to know when you’re planning your honeymoon is that it WILL happen and it WILL be special. So don’t start worrying at the very onset. One of the best parts of your holiday is the excitement and buildup and you don’t want to spoil that unnecessary worrying.

#2. Think staycations and focus on the property

With mounting safety concerns, it’s best to opt for a staycation. Pick a landscape you like, be it beaches, hills or plantations, and choose a property around it. Most activities will be closed or restricted so you want to make sure your hotel is one you love and has enough to keep you entertained. After all, that’s where you’ll be spending most of your time.

#3. Re-align your budgets for a fancy upgrade

If you were planning a long European holiday or a week in sunny Bali, you know you’re saving a pot load of money right now! So re-align your budgets to make your honeymoon safer and more luxurious. If flying to a destination, upgrade your flight for a safer flying experience. Alternatively, choose a room with a private pool or garden so you can enjoy the outdoors without worrying about safety.

#4. Research, research, research

Travel rules across the country are changing as state governments alter their policies frequently. Check for the latest COVID travel rules before booking your tickets. Some things to check for are:

  • Lockdown rules in the state you land in. Is there a quarantine needed?
  • Any apps you need to download before flying? In addition to Arogya Setu, some states require travelers to download their own apps.
  • Driving down? Check for e-pass permits required
  • Certain states and hotels mandate a COVID negative result before allowing entry. Check if you need to get one.

Knowing all these rules will help you have a comfortable and stress-free journey.

#5. Stay safe and have a blast!

Make sure you carry all your safety gear with you when traveling. Masks, disinfectant wipes, and sanitizers may not sound like the most romantic accessories, but trust us, they’ll keep you safe and healthy!

And finally, remember to have a great time. It may not be the honeymoon you planned, but with limited activity, you’ll definitely get to relax and spend some quality time with your better half.
